Practical AI · Home & community education
Make home-energy information easier to explain—and easier to check.
Turn current official information into a plain-language, locality-specific educational explainer with visible sources, dates, cautions and official-program next steps.
Source-Checked Home-Energy Explainer Builder
For community educators, libraries, nonprofit outreach teams, neighborhood groups and small contractors preparing general home-energy education.
Bring your audience, home-energy topic, locality, intended use date and any official source pages you already have. The skill guides your AI through checking those sources, drafting the explainer and recording what still needs clarification.
Use it when the explanation needs both plain language and a visible evidence trail. You review the result before sharing it.
A reusable workflow
The included templates help you replace the locality and source information for each assignment. This is not an incentives database or an automatic source-monitoring service.
Seven files your AI creates for you
After you supply your audience, topic, locality, intended use date and any source material, this skill guides Codex or Claude to create the seven draft files below. You do not need to create or supply these files yourself. The included blank templates give your AI the structure to follow; you review the completed drafts before using them.
- Plain-Language Explainer · MarkdownAudience, locality, evidence date, source-linked education, uncertainty and official next steps.
- Locality-Source Matrix · CSVAuthority, jurisdiction, program identity, source dates, scope and verification status.
- Claim-Evidence Ledger · CSVEach proposed factual claim and the evidence, conditions and review decision behind it.
- Dated-Claim Checklist · MarkdownTime-sensitive statements, deadlines and claims that need fresh confirmation.
- Reviewer Checklist · MarkdownA practical check before external use, including “Confirm before spending” cautions.
- Update Calendar & Change Log · CSVKnown dates, changed sources, removed claims and the next review action.
- Unresolved Claims · MarkdownQuestions held for clarification instead of being filled in by guesswork.
Markdown files open in a text editor; CSV files open in a spreadsheet app. Results depend on your input, source access and review.
Before you begin
Choose either Codex or Claude. You need an account for the platform you use; you do not need accounts for both. An AI account is not included with this product.
- If you use Codex: you need a compatible Codex account with skill installation and local file access.
- If you use Claude: you need a Claude account with custom Skills access in the browser or desktop app, with Code execution and file creation enabled. You do not need a Codex account. A work or school organization may restrict custom skills or tool access.
- Access to relevant official web pages is needed for current verification. Account features, tools and button labels can vary.
- Supply the audience, topic, locality/jurisdiction, intended use date and desired format; add the utility or administering program when known.
- You can provide PDF, DOCX, CSV, TXT or pasted text, subject to your AI’s file tools. Scanned-image/OCR, encrypted files and arbitrary file sizes are not verified.
Native Codex installation and use passed 16 cases. The Claude archive and shared resources were checked, but native Claude use is not tested. No ChatGPT Chat, ChatGPT Work or Claude Code compatibility is claimed for this kit.
Install, practice, then use
Open the outer customer ZIP.
Read Getting-Started.pdf. Choose the smaller Codex or Claude edition ZIP for your app; do not upload the whole customer kit as a skill.
Follow the matching setup steps.
Use Codex’s installation workflow or upload the inner Claude ZIP in its Skills area with the required tools enabled.
Try the fictional practice material.
Harbor County and Pine State use made-up organizations, URLs, dates and programs. They are practice fixtures, not current official information.
Use fresh sources and review the files.
For a real assignment, ask the AI to reopen applicable official pages and produce all seven files. Check the facts and resolve held claims before sharing.
Fresh sources are part of the work
Every explainer needs current checks against the applicable official sources. A national overview, a page being online or a retrieval timestamp does not establish local availability. The workflow checks locality, administering authority, program identity, relevant dates and conditions.
If access fails, dates conflict or applicability is unclear, the draft must remain visibly incomplete and omit the affected incentive, deadline or availability claim. Take unresolved questions to the official administering program.
Review your source list every two months, before each new explainer and after a known program change. This is your maintenance guidance; no ongoing seller monitoring is included.
Keep the decisions with the right people
General education and source organization only. The kit does not determine eligibility, estimate household savings or payback, give financial or tax advice, choose contractors, perform audits, or provide engineering, electrical, HVAC, building-code, safety or installation advice. It does not apply, enroll, publish, send or schedule anything automatically.
Confirm program details before spending and use qualified professionals for personal, technical and safety decisions. No government endorsement, certification, guaranteed accuracy or guaranteed currentness is claimed.
Use public official material and redacted inputs. Do not provide precise home addresses, household financial records, passwords or unnecessary personal information.
